I painted this crest design as a reflection on something that once happened to me…while I was walking with my cat. I was sitting on a small bridge railing waiting for my cat to catch up when out of nowhere I felt these claws on my head. Not seeing what it actually was, I got images in my head of this cat-eating-predator bird that was after my cat. I shooed away the bird vigorously and saw this raven fly off. I learned from some neighbours, some time later, that there was a family of ravens about 30 years ago, in Topley, who were raised from chicks and were used to humans. These ravens were released to the wild and although I doubt that this was one of those ravens, it may have been one their offspring. |
