This cabin is quite interesting. The cabin is off the grid but it has all sorts of electro mechanical contraptions and what seems to be all the modern conveniences, including a basketball court; but it has been many years abandoned. I imagine that it could have been built by an inventor or an industrialist. This painting was done looking over the lake where the trees sort of melted into the sky
Commission that I did, based upon the time when he fell into the water at Babine Lake and I happened to be at the viewpoint nearby at Red Bluff.
This was painted from a photograph of some geraniums against a backdrop of blue sky.
Red Sunset
If you look close enough in this painting, you can see every basic color in the light spectrum: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.

It was evening, the sun setting over the horizon to my back and the sky sort of just sighed out this haunted melody in tones of color.
The sunset filtering through the trees, the cloudy skies sighing their reflection upon the lightly turbulent waters and, I, a spectator to this, standing on the docks.
Dandelions speak their own poetry. Their words come up through the ground in joyful cartoon speech boxes, proclaiming the start of spring
The sun just reached over the roof tops and painted the large brushy trees a golden red hue, ready for the next day's masterpiece.
I painted this one on scene next to the Kitimat River in July.
Fireweed tends to bloom at the height of summer.
During the gothic and modernist periods in Europe, many buildings and cathedrals were built to mimic nature. The pillars like trees, the buttress like a canopy; one might even suggest that a stain glass window resembles the sky filtered through branches. People have suggested to me that this painting looks like stained glass; it is from a photo of some pine branches as seen from the ground.
In the bible, the book of Revelation, chapter 4 describes 24 elders bowing down before the throne of God, who is described as the Lamb. nigel@nigelfoxartworks.com
Lavatera are pretty sleek looking flowers and when I painted this one on scene the sun sort of gently glowed off their faces.
The Bulkley River and the Fraser River have water sources in generally the same area near Rose Lake, about 15 minutes from our house. Unless you knew why the area was important, you might just think that it is just a marsh next to a pond.
I painted this one on scene when the tempermentally aloof clouds couldn't sit still and were constantly changing form. There is power in change. There is life in change. If you can't sit still, there is probably a good reason for that; it's probably the way that God made you.
For a brief moment, even what is often taken for granted is so beautiful. Case in point, dandelions. Like the first spark in a room that knows no light; the first signs of life come from the ground and out of the winter.
A tree growing off the rocks on Digby Island, near Prince Rupert, looking as if against all odds, it's going to hold firm to the rock that it is anchored on.
Next to my wife's parent's house, there is a farm that has hay bails wrapped in white plastic. Near the end of the day, the sun hits them at a certain angle and they become bold.
I painted this from a photo of a night when everything was so very red. The ground was all red and it was like nothing I can ever remember seeing.
'Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.' James 1:12
Painted on a hot, sunny afternoon in Wells.
It was a windy day and the clouds stretched out like a city of palaces as far as anyone could see. It was windy, cloudy, buggy and dusty, but I remember it fondly like I was witnessing some great event--and it was.
From a photo that was taken when my wife Amy and I went snorkelling down in Mexico. Everything native to the water there is blue, light, bright blue; Amy's lifejacket contrasts with this.
A portraiture of James. Done as my entry to the Kingston Portrait Competition, 2009.
When I took the photo reference for this, it was cold! But the light had a way of shining warmly on whatever it touched, like a gentle reminder about how the light shines in winter and summer alike.
Some nights in the evening, in winter, when the sky is cloudy, the land becomes this sureal muted grey, white, blue and brown. The tracks almost seem to stretch to infinity.
The evening light filters its bronze hue that came from the trees in the distance. I painted this watching the sun go down in the winter.
The sky was this surreal, screen-like sight projecting through the trees and dancing off any surface it could land on leaving this misty reflection as it lept.
A painting from a photo of what looks to be my dad jigging for fish and trying to get me in on it.
Looking back at some fair haired boys, one of which I used to be, at the fair. My brother and I as seen by my dad, long ago.
Painted on scene, a cathedral like glow was filtering through the trees on a peaceful Sunday afternoon
The sky hums sanguine purple with anticipation of the last rays of a frosty winter day
Painted from photos taken from a day my friends Gerry, Audrey, Amy and I hiked at the fulton. The salmon were totally red
Painted on scene after a good morning's hike to the top of this rugged, clear, unpredictable, powerful mountain peak--a grizzly in both name and character.
Some purple petunias near Houston Credit Union caught my eye before I captured them on canvas
From a photo of my wife taken during a camping trip. Won most points overall and first place at the BV Fall Fair, 2008.
Impressionst view of a picture of some yellow flowers starkly rising through the parking lot gray
Painting of some trains behind these fireweed. Auctioned for food bank. Sketch done on scene.
Impressionistic Dandelions in Early Spring-my first attempt at classic impressionism and pretty good if I do say so myself
Example of the symmetry of rotating/slide tesselation of blue/yellow +'s
Really abstract and colorful view of leaves with sky in backgnd
Red shed since removed. From a photo taken in the evening.
Abstract view of Christ's Crucifixion
(Not my favorite composition). Winter landscape
Painting this when I heard about Nathaniel--my friend that took his own life in Jan of 2007. My friend Gherda says that this painting is both calm and angry at the same time. I did finished the angry part about a month after starting the painting in jan
Impressionist view of the sun shining through frosty trees behind the Topley Victory Church
Burnt Sienna, surrealistic Lime Towers at Night taking off into the sky, like rockets leaving on a mission into space
Impressionist piece I did when 12 Stones, my Kamloops church, came up.
Woods with autumn leaf colors gradating in the sky in a fallout of yellow ochre
Cadmium Red Light, Sun Coming over Horizon at Topley, burning up everything that its sanguine glow touches
'You're on fire when he's near you. You're on fire when he breathes. You're on fire, burning up in these mysteries.'
